Teatro Dallas is turning 40 this month! We produce vanguard, global theater, while focusing on developing new artists locally. Our theater presents an international theater festival (this year we present groups from the UK, Portugal, Argentina and Colombia), bilingual children's theater to under-served youth in our community, commission original plays, presents world premieres and reach 10,000 individuals annually. Additionally, we present free community events, youth camps and workforce training in the arts for young adults and teens. We actively support the professional growth of local playwrights, designers, actors and arts administrators.
Funds are needed to keep our community projects going (and free). Truthfully! Teatro Dallas, like many arts groups dedicated to uplifting our most vulnerable communities, has lost funding due to federal mandates that undermine our work in low-income communities. We provide free, high-quality bilingual performances in diverse neighborhoods across our city, reaching audiences who lack access to the arts. Total transparency, this is what you will fund:
$25 pays for materials for 5 students at our mask-making workshops during summer
$50 covers the materials to create props for our fall or spring productions
$100 covers the artistic fees for a free one hour acting workshop for up to 20 students!
$200 covers one week of theater camp for a deserving low-income youth or teen at our summer theater camps
$500 covers the cost of materials for costumes for one of our main stage productions
$1000 covers an entire bilingual touring show to be presented free for the community! We present these in parks, rec centers, malls
$5000 covers the artistic fees for our designers (light, scenic and costume) during one of our main stage productions
Are you in producer mode? With a gift of 10K you can underwrite our 2026 summer bilingual play! We are looking for a generous donor to collaborate in our presentation of "Como Agua Para Chocolate" in Spanish. A gorgeous classic, it is filled with spicy romance, humor and drama.
