We provide youth who have shown talent and skill with quality trumpets. We provide mentoring through the music program. Berklee School of Music is utilized through their PULSE Program online to teach music theory. Mr. Jones works with the youth regarding composing music and performing. Trumpets4Kids has performed original music at the Bush Library for four years. Youth are taken to concerts and sometimes have sessions with the artists to learn new techniques or ideas regarding music. The hope is that through their involvement with music, whether in a school band or not, they will improve in their academics, organizational skills, interpersonal interactions and goal development. During the pandemic we had to adjust. Mr. Jones developed a Zoom Hang and invited the youth and professional musicians to be involved. This took place twice monthly. We had trumpet greats interact with our youth. The youth play and the professionals critique giving tips on how to improve. The professionals sometimes told their stories. It was an enriching time.  Now we are working on in-person activities.  A trumpet choir has been developed and gives in-person performances at various locations.  We have been able to give out seven trumpets this year.

The Mission Statement of Trumpets4Kids: We invest in youth by providing trumpets and mentorship to enrich their lives through music.

At Trumpets4Kids we respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages to ensure that all voices are represented and served. We are committed to a nondiscriminatory approach and provide equal opportunity for the youth of the Dallas/Fort Worth communities and beyond.

To ensure we reach youth of all ethnicities and social/economic environments, we have a Board of Directors formed from a cross-section of backgrounds and experiences. We contact schools with diverse populations to recruit youth who need trumpets through their music departments. The band directors identify the student or students who have shown talent with playing the instrument. Private applicants can apply on our website for a trumpet.

As an organization and Board of Directors, we are guided by these principles, and they are reflected in our vision, mission, strategic planning, programming, governance, and board composition. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our Board members and programs we develop and support.
