We have a Little Pantry that we keep stocked with non-perishable food, water, fruits, and vegetables available to anyone in need 24 hours a day. There are no forms to fill out, no questions asked.....if they need food, it is there for them. The sign on the Little Pantry reads, "Take what you need, bring what you can, above all....be blessed". We strive to keep bread, peanut butter, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, beans and rice, canned goods, snacks, meat products, and water in the Little Pantry for those in need.
We discovered very quickly that the need in our community is much greater than the donations brought in. So, we applied for the 501(c)3 non-profit status to help aid in getting donations. It has been a tremendous help for us, along with a lot of work.
We have an air-conditioner installed to help keep water and food cool in our summer heat, and we have a security camera that we monitor the activity. We have had the Little Pantry for 6 1/2 years, and can honestly say, we have not had any abuse. When someone is taking a lot, just wiping it out, Sonny goes out to talk to them and tells them, "I noticed on the security camera you are taking a lot of food. If you need food, we can bring some to your house. Just give me your address, and we will bring you some monthly". They are happy to give us their address, and we can see where they live, check on them monthly, and let them know someone cares.
We have homeless that come to the Little Pantry for their daily food needs, single parents, senior adults, and struggling families going through a hard time. I started a FB group, Waxahachie Little Pantry and share success stories from the Little Pantry. It has been such a blessing to so many people, and feeds so many on a daily basis. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
We pick up bread weekly to use in the Little Pantry.
Our Needs
We currently need funds to purchase food, snacks, and items for the Little Pantry and for operating funds to keep it going on a daily basis.
