Mission

Wings of Hope Equitherapy’s mission is to provide equine-assisted services for children and adults with unique physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Wings of Hope was founded in 1996 to provide inclusion for those with disabilities, specifically for children and adults with physical, mental or emotional challenges through the partnership of a horse. Our founding staff and board had a vision to provide a place of inclusion without discrimination and to share love and compassion. Over two decades later, we are the only center located in Johnson County and serving the Southern DFW Metroplex with such a diverse spectrum of services. We serve as an advocate of inclusion for those who navigate daily life with the challenges and stigma associated with a disability by providing hope and healing through gentle horses and the love of God.

The connection with the horse provides partnership, opportunity, and discovery through fun and creative experiences that develop horsemanship skills. The experiential setting, through mounted or ground-based activities, offers a variety of physical, social and emotional benefits. Whether it is improved balance, coordination, and posture through physical movement or socializing, increasing self-confidence, and/or engaging with peers, horses help!
