This year we are raising donations for a new project we are working on: Jenny's Hope in Schools. In September, 2018, Wise County Christian Counseling opened Jenny's Hope, our county's first grief center for children and their families. Since it's opening, we have received multiple calls from schools in our area following a student or teacher death. We have helped with every detail in the aftermath. We set up and staffed comfort rooms for the students and another for teachers. We have been ready to help students and staff process this information and to offer emotional regulation activities. We helped script various forms of communications to families and the community. Jenny's Hope in Schools offered followup meeting for the school and the community.
There is not a school district that is set up to pay for these services so we are asking you, our donors to help up continue to offer these vital life skills.
For example, Paradise is a small community in Wise County where in 16 months, there were four student deaths and one school board member died. These deaths were all elementary students and one teacher had three of the students who died. These deaths were from horrific tragedies - one at a quinceanera when an archway fell on her; another was found kidnapped and murdered; and two boys were killed with their father in a tragic plane crash. We were honored to go to Paradise Elementary to show up for this community. One day at Paradise costs us over $4,000. And that, my friends, is why we need your help!
We know how to do this work and we won't stop. Please help us continue to help others.
Jenny’s Hope in Schools provides practical tools to support and equip students, staff, and communities following the death of a student or staff member.
Jenny's Hope in Schools will use our NTGD donations to continue to go into schools providing grief support. We need money for supplies, for building grief kits for each age level, and for our salaries while we are working within a school district for the initial day and follow-ups.
