Women Called Moses (WCM) is dedicated to protecting both mothers and children from the dangers of domestic violence and the risks of homelessness. To further our impact, we have expanded the vision beyond providing only emergency safe havens. WCM is developing and implementing programs that address the evolving challenges of abuse, ensuring that our services remain relevant and effective.

Notably, we are the only operating domestic violence shelter in the southern sector of Dallas, Texas, serving a historically underserved and at-risk population. When families are unable to receive the assistance they need, they become vulnerable to crimes such as human trafficking, prostitution, and sex trafficking.

1 in 3 Texas women and their families are affected by domestic violence.

Mission

Women Called Moses was created to be an underground railroad for survivors of domestic violence. We seek to prevent and end the cycles of domestic violence through education, research, resources, and advocacy programs which are provided to individuals, families, communities, corporations, and coalition non-profit agencies throughout the United States.

Needs

Through the North Texas Giving Day's annual event, donors can make a lasting impact by supporting organizations that address a wide range of needs, from education and healthcare to social services and the arts. Since 2003, WCM has been at the forefront of providing vital domestic violence prevention, awareness, and resource programs in the southern sector of Dallas, Texas.

The guiding principle of WCM is "Safety First!" We provide survivors with the support they need to achieve safety and the tools necessary to rebuild their lives. Our signature and most needed program, #1000 SAFE NIGHTS, offers emergency shelter to women and children when traditional shelters are at capacity. We ensure that our clients have access to safe places, food, clothing, resources, and other essentials tailored to their unique situations. A woman's safety is the cornerstone of her ability to dream and build a better future, and it serves as the foundation for her children's ability to grow, imagine, and realize their full potential.

By fostering a spirit of generosity and connecting individuals, families, and businesses with charitable causes, North Texas Giving Day will strengthen the region, enhance the well-being of its residents, and build a more vibrant, resilient, and compassionate community.

The annual goal for WCM #1000SAFENIGHTS Program is 1,000 SAFE NIGHTS.

A SAFE NIGHT per family averages at $300 per night.
