The Great Storm
The storm siren wailed loudly and shook us all instantly wide awake. A quick glance at the radar showed why. A "particularly dangerous thunderstorm" was crossing the county line headed right toward us. As people of prayer we asked the Lord "Please protect us". Within minutes the storm hit and the wind howled bending all the trees including a giant elm growing inches from our building. Suddenly with a crack and a crash this giant elm that had always shaded us from the worst of the Texas sun crashed onto our Timothy House. Water began to drip from the ceiling and the wind made everything creak and groan causing us to wonder if the entire building would collapse. But God had arranged for one of the big limbs to land squarely on one of the strongest areas of the building and the tree was braced securely there until we could cut it up. With The Lord's help and the strong backs of the young men here the tree is (mostly) gone and the roof damage patched to keep rain out. This has been an unexpected extra expense and an extra challenge for our team here. If you would like to help cover some of these costs you could do so by check or Zelle (ywamdallas@sbcglobal.net) or PayPal (ywamdallas@sbcglobal.net) or North Texas Giving Day. WHO WE ARE
YWAM Dallas exists to reach out to urban children, young people and their families. We are especially called to alleviate spiritual and economic poverty by bringing the gospel to the poor, forgotten, outcast and those not helped by any other organization in our city. We believe that the gospel and faith in the Lord removes the hindrances to the life God has prepared for us and leads to a life full of peace and joy. As it says in Isaiah 58:12 "Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." To do this we have weekly clubs, small groups, Bible study with the parents and summer camps to help our children and young people see their great value and fulfill their purpose. We also have once a year events at Christmas and in the summer to bless the whole family.
