Our dedicated volunteers evaluate dogs in shelters, transport them to various veterinary clinics for care, provide loving foster homes as long as needed, process adoption applications, visit potential adopters, take our dogs to public events to gain more exposure, use a wide variety of media to spread the word about our dogs available for adoption, and work to educate the public about the Great Pyrenees breed and about the need to spay/neuter to help reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats that end up in shelters every year.
Each Pyr that we rescue is treated with complete veterinary care, including heartworm testing plus ongoing prevention or treatment, spay/neuter surgery, and annual vaccinations. Our foster families evaluate the personality of each dog and we take every precaution to ensure the right dog is placed in the right home. We try to facilitate adoptions that will last for the life of the animal and provide many "Happy Tails" for the dog AND the family!
-Foster Families---
Shelters in North Texas and surrounding areas, stay at near or over-capacity most of the time. You can help change that! Fostering is a wonderful way to give hands-on help to a homeless dog. SPIN Rescue provides food, medication, vet care and supplies. You provide a loving heart, a safe home, and some of your time. You can choose a puppy, young adult, or even a senior as your new foster friend..
---Volunteers---
Transporting animals, DFW and surrounding areas;
Working Events;
Attending Adoption and Fundraising Events with your SPIN dog and sharing information on Pyrs to prospective owners;
Completing home visits for prospective adopters;
Using special skills such as photography, graphic design, or construction to assist SPIN with special projects.
---Donations for medical care---
Most of our pyrs come into rescue with medical needs, ranging from routine vaccinations to major medical surgeries. Your donations help us help more dogs.
We exist to rescue Great Pyrenees from animal control facilities in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex as space in our foster homes is available. We consist of all volunteers, who generously give of their time, talents, and homes (for fostering) to this cause.
