NTX Giving Day!

Legacy. It’s a concept I think about regularly as I ponder what impact I want leave on this world. In one aspect, time is so fleeting, but I fully believe when we devote our passions in the service of others and work in collaboration, we can make a huge difference in this world.  In 2021, I had the great pleasure of getting to know Karen Carrillo who launched A Sisters Legacy in memory of her sister, Marissa. If it was not for Karen and the passion that she has for serving others, I am convinced I would not be a social worker today. I had the honor of serving A Sisters Legacy as an intern in 2023 and this year I accepted an invitation to join the Board of Directors as Treasurer. I fully believe in the mission of this organization and am humbly asking you for your support.

A study done by Forbes in 2023 compared all 50 states and found that Texas ranks #1 - as the worst state for mental health care for the second year in a row. According to Mental Health America, 55% of adult Americans with mental illness did not receive treatment in 2023.

At A Sisters Legacy, we are aware that access to quality mental health services is a privilege that not everyone is afforded which is why we strive to increase access to care by removing barriers such as cost, transportation, etc. We are on the heels of one of the largest fundraising opportunities of the year, North Texas Giving Day. We are seeking support from you to continue our efforts of making accessible care.  

In 2023, our Clinical Services Program provided 545 no-cost and low-cost therapy sessions because of donors like you! Please consider donating starting September 1st for North Texas Giving Day. Every dollar counts and every $50 we raise provides an hour of care for someone in need.
