Chaco was born here at Camp Tonkawa. His mom was the first horse on the property when the camp started, in 2002. He is technically Ms. April's horse but she shares him with all the campers.
It is easy to keep weight on this male horse, due to his Quarterhorse roots.
We are hoping to get a kids saddle for him because Ms April’s saddle will not adjust stirrups short for young children. He is a well trained cooperative horse when Ms April is walking next to him and the young children are on him. But he can be a challenge to teens and adults riding him until they establish that they are going to be the one leading the ride. So he is good for both young and old, experienced and inexperienced to work with.
He has been trained using many methods: Clinton Anderson Downunder, Parelli Natural Horse Training and Elliot Holtzman at Versatile Horsemanship also did an intensive training with him.
