Help Us Build the Officer Darron Burks Memorial Park!

For Oak Cliff is announcing a fundraising campaign to build a beautiful memorial park at the For Oak Cliff Community Campus, and we need your help. This park will honor the memory of Dallas Police Officer Darron Lee Burks, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in August 2024 while protecting our community center and serving our beloved community.

Before becoming a police officer, Officer Burks was a dedicated math teacher and mentor, known for his guidance and encouragement of young people. His life was a testament to leadership, service, and love for his community. In his honor, For Oak Cliff is fundraising to build a Memorial Park that reflects his spirit and offers a safe, inspiring space for local families and children.   We believe this park will enhance Officer Darron Burk’s and For Oak Cliff's shared missions of fostering a culture of hope, resilience, and empowerment.  

The Vision

The Memorial Park will feature:

• A Playground with Positive Messaging: A playground and fitness equipment, surrounded by educational quotes and words of encouragement 
• A Garden with A Family Gathering Space: A serene space for friends and family to gather and reflect, with seating and a memorial plaque honoring Officer Burks
• A Vibrant Mural: Colorful artwork symbolizing Officer Burks’ faith, leadership, and love for his community

How You Can Help

We can’t bring this important project to life without your help. Together, we can honor Officer Darron Burks' legacy and provide an educational and inspiring space for the South Oak Cliff community. No donation is too small, and you may choose to sponsor specific features of the park. We will build this park in phases as we raise the capital, our total need is $275,000 but it can all start with a bench and a mural.
