Kitten Foster Mom Sarah here with a special plea!

Kitties in North Texas need your help. When I brought home the Oak Tree family in April, I had no idea what kind of an adventure I was in for! Momma Laurel was sick, the kittens were still nursing, and teeny tiny Acorn needed extra care. Without the support of Dallas Pets Alive!, I wouldn't have been able to give this sweet family what they needed. DPA covers ALL of the medical care for my foster kittens, from routine vaccines to spay and neuter surgery. When Laurel Oak needed an urgent Saturday vet visit, DPA was there. When Acorn's eye ruptured, DPA handled that too. DPA provided food and litter, first aid supplies, and after hours advice. I never had to worry about the cost of Acorn's enucleation surgery. I provide the love and care, and Dallas Pets Alive foots the bill!

Now it's time to give back. North Texas Giving Day is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we have a generous matching fund to stretch those donations even further. Every donation of $50 or more is matched dollar for dollar! Even if you can't give that much, small donations add up. For the cost of a pumpkin spice latte, you can feed four kittens for a day! Streaming video service? Keep the litter box fresh and clean for two weeks!

Join me to raise money this year to help more kittens like Red Oak, Acorn, and Post Oak, and their sweet momma Laurel Oak. Whitaker and I are ever so grateful.

Why Your Generous Gifts Are So Urgently Needed

Your support during North Texas Giving Day is not just a donation; it's a lifeline. Every gift you make goes directly to programs that are transforming the lives of animals and their humans. Our Foster and Adoption program is a beacon of hope for the most at-risk animals in our partner shelters, while our preventative programs—like PASS, Dogs Matter, and Bark Dorm—work tirelessly to keep pets out of shelters and in loving homes. These initiatives are not just about rescue; they're about building healthier, stronger communities where animals and people thrive together.

The need is urgent. Many of the pets that come into our care have medical conditions so severe that shelters simply can't provide the care they need. Over a third of the animals we help are Major Medical Cases, requiring $1,000 or more in medical expenses. In 2023 alone, we spent more than $400,000 on treatments ranging from basic vaccinations to heartworm treatment and life-saving surgeries.

This year, as we've taken on the incredible work of Dogs Matter and face the overwhelming overcrowding in North Texas shelters, the number of animals in our care has more than doubled. For the first time, we have more than 500 animals relying on our programs. While we've made strides in fundraising, the financial demands have outpaced our resources.
