Meeting folks where they are at builds a bridge of compassion and understanding. Consistently showing up builds a bridge of trust and respect. Genuinely caring for the lives and souls of those who feel unworthy builds a bridge of hope and connection.
And the greatest part is that bridges go both ways. What a blessing it is to bless others!
Since its inception, Building Bridges LRC has gone into the gap and worked to build these bridges with the unsheltered population of Fort Worth. We are trusted and respected by the community, which is such an honor. Our unsheltered friends have been through some tough times, so it is our pleasure to show them God’s love and provide them with food, necessities, and the gospel in an effort to help get them off the streets for good.
One of the ways we connect with the community is in the form of outreaches. We have many throughout the year, and aim to provide timely supplies at each one. For example, during the hot summer months we focus on hydration, shade, fans, and ways to stay cool in the brutal Texas heat. In the fall we provide a full Thanksgiving meal and hand out warm winter items like coats, hats, scarves, blankets, etc. We also hold an annual “watermelon outreach” to celebrate where Building Bridges LRC began. Every outreach includes a time of worship and a message of God’s never ending love. If you have never volunteered with us, it is such a beautiful opportunity to see and experience the impact for yourself.
Recently we completed construction on our donation center, which will provide needed items throughout the year to the community. We are also gearing up to kick off our computer skills class to better equip our friends with the tools they need to be successful in a technology driven world. We hold our discipleship class every Wednesday night after a nice hot meal and fellowship. As we grow, we will continue to add new programs and services. We’re always looking for ways to learn and improve our programs!
