New Beginnings: Supporting Moms in Recovery

My name is Sara and I am the Director of the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Children's program at Nexus Family Recovery Center in Dallas. 

In the United States, there are only 19 treatment centers that allow children to accompany their mothers while they receive substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. Seven of these centers are in Texas but Nexus Family Recovery Center is the ONLY center that provides a holistic program for our families and therapeutic services to address the developmental challenges in children brought on by parental substance use. Nexus is also one of a handful of centers in Texas that allow pregnant women with a substance use disorder into treatment. This is very important as now at least 2 lives are at stake- if left untreated.
