For more than 25 years, The Writer's Garret has fostered a stronger sense of community in Dallas-Fort Worth via innovative, accessible, and inclusive literary programming for youth and adults.
This year, I'm asking that you please help The Writer's Garret keep the vast majority of its creative writing workshops, author talks, book discussion groups, and collaborations with other arts organizations (like Pegasus Contemporary Ballet) free to attend. Doing so allows us to reach as many North Texans from as many different backgrounds and walks of life as possible.
Although my fellow Board members and I would love to raise thousands of dollars to support programs such as Rail Writers, The Lyceum Series, Write To Heal, and Stone Soup, I would like to encourage as many small donations as possible. The larger, more diverse, and more representative the organization's donor base, the more opportunities it will enjoy to secure funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
If you're weighing whether to donate, I'd also encourage you to visit The Writer's Garret website to learn more about:
- The impact our teaching artists, presenters, and partners made in 2023.
- the 3 free workshops award-winning journalist and 2022 Juanita J Craft Artist Residency Recipient (from the South Dallas Cultural Center) Linda Jones will be offering in the coming months.
- The exciting plans we have for Dallas Is Lit! 2025.
Thank you connecting with The Writer's Garret and helping us connect more people through the power of language!
