Greetings!

As a passionate Readers 2 Leaders board member, I look forward to this opportunity to support our mission of equipping students for success through the power of reading.  Annually, we rally with North Texas Giving Day in September to raise awareness for literacy and join in on the incredible energy created to financially support causes we care about.  Readers 2 Leaders is committed to ensuring that all students have equitable opportunities to thrive as both readers and leaders. With your help, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the children we serve.

Why I'm Passionate About Literacy

I have personally seen the crushing impact that the low literacy can have throughout a person's life.   Stunted reading proficiency can create a sense of shame, embarrassment and unfulfilled potential. This often leads to mental and emotional health challenges including a sense of isolation and loneliness.  

Without a strong support system, students experiencing these challenges are less likely to finish high school, leading to under- or unemployment and a path to the criminal justice system.

Students who struggle with reading in the early years often face difficulties in all other subjects, which rely heavily on reading comprehension. Early intervention can change that trajectory, but educators and caregivers need more resources to help students succeed as readers.

Readers 2 Leaders is that resource.

How Your Donation Helps

Since its founding in 2011, Readers 2 Leaders has provided services to 7,729 clients, including 6,852 students and 877 adults.

In the 2024 - 25 School year:

- Readers 2 Leaders aims to reach 1,500 students with reading programs

- 80% of students in our programs will attain mastery of grade-appropriate foundational literacy skills.

- 75% of students in our program will meet or exceed their personalized end-of-year literacy growth goal as assessed by the MAP assessment tool.

- The organization will support 300 adults through coaching implementation and family reading cohort programs.

Our reading programs have demonstrated significant success. In the 2023-24 academic year, 87 percent of students, as measured by Renaissance Star, made tangible progress toward their reading goals.
