Hello, friends and family! As many of you know, I am on the board of the National Autism Association of North Texas (NAA-NT), and I was honored to be asked to be Vice President of the organization this year. NAA-NT is 100% volunteer-driven, and all proceeds we receive go directly to kids and families affected by autism.
Our inspiration for helping other autism families is our son Shawn. Shawn is 21 years old (which we can't believe!) and he has autism. He is tall, handsome, easygoing, and musically gifted. He is a joy to have around the house because there is always music playing around him! At the same time, Shawn is minimally verbal and he still needs assistance with daily living skills that we all take for granted. He will need support for the rest of his life.
We fully understand the needs and the difficulties that autism families experience, and we want to provide assistance and support to as many kids and families as we can. NAA-NT provides grants and scholarships to families to assist with therapies, swim lessons, emergency funding, and more. We provide training to first responders to help them learn how to manage kids and adults on the spectrum. We also hold fun events for kids and families, and special events for moms so they can be pampered as well!
Please help us help more kids and families affected by autism! We love what we do and we would love your support!
