As some of you know, since 2023 I have had the honor of serving as a board member for Shakespeare Dallas.  I'm asking you today to support me and this cause I love by making a gift for North Texas Giving Day 2024.  When you give today, Shakespeare Dallas qualifies for extra matching funds.

Shakespeare Dallas is a cultural treasure that brings the magic of live theater to North Texas audiences, focusing on the works of William Shakespeare.  We're so lucky to have this amazing resource in Dallas.  For over 50 years, thanks to Shakespeare Dallas and its dedicated supporters, innovative directors, and amazing artists, North Texans have come together on the lawn to picnic, spend time under the Texas stars with friends and family, and marvel at the beauty, the poetry, the humor, the tragedy, the artistry, the swordfights, and (just ask my boys) the MANY hilarious Elizabethan jokes about breaking wind and wearing horns in these timeless classics.  Shakespeare in the Park is theater for the people, just as Shakespeare was in his own time.  As imagined by Shakespeare Dallas's visionary directors and embodied by talented and diverse casts, these plays come alive for today's audiences in ways that are fun, moving, educational, respectful, and inclusive.  Most importantly, Shakespeare Dallas is committed to ensuring that these performances are low cost, high quality, and accessible and welcoming to everyone. No one is turned away for inability to pay and we keep ticket prices low to remove barriers to access.  Shakespeare Dallas is also a key employer of actors, directors, and other North Texas creatives, and is growing the next generation of literature-lovers through school programs and camps.

You may have heard that this is a difficult time for live theater companies.  That is true here in Dallas as well.  However, I am happy to report that thanks to Shakespeare Dallas's dedicated staff and volunteers, the enthusiastic audiences and donors who supported our summer productions of Twelfth Night and The Odyssey, and with your help and gift today, we are on a strong upward trajectory, on track to end this year in the black, and already planning for an AMAZING 2025 season.  I hope you will make a gift (any amount helps), visit shakespearedallas.org to grab some tickets or a subscription to Julius Caesar (9/13 - 10/13), and come join me at the Park!   I'll bring the picnic! :-)

Sincere thanks,

Ellen (and Ted and Blake, forever my little "Bard Bucket" kids)
