A Sisters Legacy

I met Karen Carrillo when she became the event coordinator where I was managing. She was in school to become a licensed social worker. She helped with many charity, outreach, and nonprofit organizations. But she always saw opportunities for improvement. I remember telling her, she just needed to start her own nonprofit— so she could run it the way she wanted, wholeheartedly. 

We parted ways with employers, but remained great friends. She continued on her educational journey to get her masters and clinical social work degrees. In 2021 she finally made the leap and started her own nonprofit. 

A Sisters Legacy was born.  Karen has set out to make mental healthcare affordable. She creates beautiful jewelry to sell to allow her clients low-cost therapy sessions. She has also attended multiple conferences and held speaking engagements to champion mental health. 

I serve on the board of directors for A  Sisters Legacy. Karen always puts everyone else first. She has refused to give herself a raise just because she wants to make sure the nonprofit, and her clients come first. She has also created a vast network within the nonprofit community. If she can’t personally assist you, she knows someone who can and will get you to the right place. 

We are small, growing organization with the big hearts in need of funding. Every little bit helps and we appreciate all your support.
