In the spirit of North Texas Giving Day on September 22, I’m raising funds all month for one of my favorite nonprofits: The Street Dog Project. It is no secret that I am an avid supporter of animal rescue. I rescued my first dog, Hoagie, from the SPCA of Texas in 2017, and I adopted Orzo from The Street Dog Project earlier this year. The Street Dog Project found Orzo’s parents tied to railroad tracks - a truly horrific situation - and took them in, only for Orzo’s mom to give birth to nine puppies. Thanks to the wonderful fosters and volunteers at The Street Dog Project, Orzo’s mom, dad, and siblings are now all living their best lives in loving homes.
It couldn’t be a more critical time to support animal shelters and rescues across North Texas. Shelters are full and therefore having to make difficult decisions for space, and rescues are doing the best they can to alleviate the situation in shelters. The Street Dog Project does fantastic work rescuing dogs from the streets and from high risk shelters.
Please consider helping by fostering, adopting, volunteering, or donating. Any donations - big or small - go a long way and mean so much not only to me but to the furry lives you’re helping save.
