Our Mission
We provide innovative instruction, student-centered learning, career guidance, and intellectual growth through a broad curriculum that encourages active participation in the local and global community.
The liberal arts and sciences provide a broad curriculum that engages students in hands-on learning, critical thinking and collaborative work. Our students gain valuable knowledge about diverse cultures. Students are encouraged to discover, explore, examine and question. Through the opportunities provided by our curriculum students acquire knowledge and develop important skills, so that, in turn, they can obtain fulfilling careers, improve their community, and become engaged citizens.

Student Needs
We emphasize two crucial components of the student experience: student internships and research for graduate and undergraduate students. We have made significant strategic efforts to increase the prevalence of these activities. These components develop students’ knowledge bases, skill sets, and professional networks, enabling them to transition smoothly between UNT Dallas and future professional and academic opportunities.
Internships
One of the key benefits of internships is the opportunity for students to explore different academic and career paths, helping them make informed decisions about their future career goals. Moreover, internships provide students with the chance to build a professional network and establish connections within their chosen industry. We are currently building experiential learning experiences into our curricula and our goal within the next 3 years is for all majors within the school to offer a 3-credit, upper-division elective that allows students to receive credit for completing an internship experience.
Many of our internship experiences are unpaid, so a charitable gift will allow us to provide stipends for students who may have competing interests, like employment and family commitments, that make it challenging to accept unpaid internships. Your gift will expand the range of possibilities and help ensure that students do not miss a valuable professional development opportunity due to financial barriers.
Research
Student research plays a crucial role in higher education by providing students with the opportunity to engage in scholarly inquiry, develop critical thinking skills, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their field of study. Through research projects, students can deepen their understanding of academic concepts, explore complex issues, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems.
Additionally, student research can lead to opportunities for students to present their work at conferences, publish in academic journals, or collaborate on research projects with faculty members and peers. These experiences not only enhance students' academic resumes but also help them develop important communication and presentation skills that are essential for success in academia and the workforce.
In the current economic climate, it is extremely costly for our students to travel to conferences (e.g. airfare, food, hotel, and conference registration fees) to present their work. Furthermore, conducting the research itself can be very costly, depending on the materials that are used. Your contribution would expand conference possibilities for our students, as well as support them through the research process itself.
