Buckskin, Mare, 25
She was given to Camp Tonkawa through friends of our across the street neighbor, Jean Dumovich. Our newest horse to our herd, Takota, is her best friend.
This horse is a bit timid, letting the other horses push her around, So she has gotten used to running away, fleeing is the number one way a horse gets itself out of danger. And she loves to pick up her feet to flee at a quick pace, which she uses to give riders a fun fast ride. She is a Gaited Horse, meaning she doesn’t have the bouncy trot, but goes into a smooth 2 beat pace which makes it very comfortable to ride.
Keeping her dewormed on a strict schedule is a must, as she is prone to get itchy from within. A year rotation of dewormer, to include ivermectin, pyrantel, oxibendazole and moxidectin are essential to be given at the most beneficial time of year.
Regular dental is also important as she is an older horse.
