The Stewpot is a one stop shop for neighbors experiencing poverty and homelessness in Dallas. In one place, on one campus, neighbors can get case management, ID and document recovery, banking and Representative Payee services, three hot meals a day 365 days a year, a full grocery-style food pantry, housing and housing support, medical and mental health care through onsite partners, and education and enrichment programs for at-risk children and youth.
OUR APPROACH IS WORKING!
Since 2021, Dallas and Collin counties have reduced overall homelessness by 23% and street homelessness by 25%, making this one of only a handful of major U.S. regions where homelessness is going down instead of up. The Stewpot helps lead that work as part of the All Neighbors Coalition, chaired by our Executive Director, Brenda Snitzer.
That progress is being tested right now. Federal SNAP cuts and the longest government shutdown in U.S. history have pushed more Dallas families to the edge than we've seen in years. Our Food Pantry is now serving 300+ neighbors on a typical day in 2026, more than ever before. North Texas Giving Day, on September 17, is our chance to meet that need head on, together with the rest of Dallas.
Funds for operating and program costs are our number one need. 88% of all expenses are program expenses.
