Merlin's Hope Ragdoll Rescue Mission Statement
While MHRR has existed since 2008, the rescue became a formal 501c3 organization in 2015. Since 2008, we have placed over 1988 cats through Petfinder. This number does not include cats that were placed privately. Merlin's Hope Ragdoll Rescue (MHRR) is named after a beloved 16-year-old Ragdoll, Merlin, who was dumped at a humane society because his owners didn't want to pay for the medical care he needed. Merlin taught me so much about love and trust and even though my time with him on Earth was shorter than either of us would have liked, he inspired me to save other cats like him and found this rescue. In his honor, Merlin's Hope Ragdoll Rescue is a cage-free, foster-based 501c3 non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes Ragdolls, Maine Coons, and similar breeds (Persians, Siberians, Domestic Long-Hairs, etc.).
Our cats primarily come from shelters in Texas and surrounding states, owners who can no longer care for their cats, and from international rescues, notably Kuwait, Egypt, Saudia Arabia, and Qatar.
In addition to rescue, we spend much of our time educating the public about the importance of good physical and mental care, behavior modification techniques, and our overall responsibility to our cats.
