Currently we have 30 dogs onsite, some of whom are seniors. We have dachshunds, as well as other small to large breeds here for adoption as well as in sanctuary. Everyone loves to lay in the sunny grass patches and "sun." We are continuously working with the local and regional shelters to pull fur-babies and give them a second chance.
Provide dachshunds of all ages forever homes through responsible adoption practices and offer seniors of all breeds a sanctuary in which to live out their days if not adopted. We've branched out into other small dog breeds of all ages and livestock of different species as well.
We always need dog food, drum liners, duck food, sweet feed, senior horse food, wood shavings, 3 in nails/screws, hoses (we go thru hoses for some reason!), and dog toys.
Abby Road has one monthly donor who donates $100 each month. We board for other rescues to raise funds for food and medications for our dogs and our veterinarian as well as take from our director's paycheck. As with most rescues, food is our biggest expense. We use a 40-50 bag of food every 2 days with the big dogs, and a similarly sized bag with the littles each week. When we have adoptions, we pay our vet. We try very hard, and usually succeed, in keeping our bill owed to our vet below $1000. Our budget fluctuates depending on which seniors need which assistance in any given month and when monthly heartworm supplies need to be ordered.
