Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAs) is a dedicated and passionate animal welfare organization committed to improving the lives of animals in need. With a profound belief in the inherent value and rights of all animals, we work tirelessly to protect, rescue, rehabilitate, and advocate for their well-being.

FRAs is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2004 as "Friends of the Rowlett Animal Shelter."  We started with 4 volunteers who wanted to support the Rowlett Animal Shelter, and today our organization has grown to over 300 volunteers.  With this growth, we now support both the Rowlett and Garland animal shelters and operate our own cat rescue program. We have officially changed our name to Friends of Rescue Animals to reflect the expansion of our impact over the last 20 years. In part due to our efforts, both shelters have an average live release rate that exceeds the 90% benchmark to be considered "no-kill", which is difficult for a city shelter in Texas.

Our mission is to provide resources, programs and education to promote adoption and care of homeless pets in our community. FRAs’ vision is a world where every companion animal has a safe and loving forever home.

By supporting FRAs, you directly contribute to the betterment of animal lives. Your generous donations enable us to provide medical care, food, shelter, and rehabilitation services for animals in need. Additionally, your contributions help us expand our educational programs and outreach efforts to raise awareness and promote compassionate practices in the community.

Join us to create a world where animals are treated with love, kindness, and empathy. Your support will make a tangible difference in the lives of countless animals, providing them with a second chance at a happy and fulfilling life.

Together, let's build a more compassionate future for animals!

Dog Transport out of Texas - Requires $48K per year to cover the cost of transporting dogs from an over capacity shelter out of state. IMPACT - frees up kennel space and save lives by transporting 300 dogs per year out of state.

Heartworm Treatment - Requires $24K per year to cover the supplies to treat all Heartworm positive dogs at the shelters we support. IMPACT - provides heartworm treatment for 120 dogs per year as soon as they are available for adoption.

Shelter Emergency Medical Support - Budged to provide at least $21K of emergency medical support for animals that come into the shelters we support that need urgent care/surgery. IMPACT - animals get the urgent care needed instead of being euthanized. We fundraise for each specific case as expenses vary widely..
