Wendi believed that opportunity is everything. That’s why the Wendi Atwood Rogers Foundation supports at-risk youth and rising professionals through mentorship, providing tools, skills and network connections to turn opportunities into better futures.
Wendi Atwood Rogers was an amazing person who gave to others as a mentor, leader and friend. She unexpectedly left us in December of 2016 leaving a whole. In January of 2017, three friends created The Wendi Atwood Rogers Foundation in her honor. We started as the Wendi Rogers Memorial Fund, and along the way, developed a way to carry on Wendi's spirit and life’s work by offering free mentorship workshops and career development to professionals and at-risk youth. We combine each workshop with a community project, including food drives, school supply drives, or raising money for our charitable gift fund. Our charitable gift fund is used to donate to other 501(c)(3) organizations that offer direct one-on-one mentoring and/or assistance to homeless students and to help rural and urban students who do not have the support provided in larger school districts. In November of 2020, we became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization now known as The Wendi Atwood Rogers Foundation.
We have raised approximately $25,000 over the past 6 years, none of which was or will be used for administrative expenses. We partner with and provide grants to great organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area including Dallas Education Foundation, Journey Forward Mentoring, Journey to Dream, Tom Bean ISD, and Communities in Schools of North Texas to name a few.
Our Needs
We are raising funds to help groups such as shelters for homeless teens in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and beyond. All funds go to help at-risk youth and adults seeking personal and professional development through mentorship. Mentoring is extremely important, and we are here to help first-generation high school and college graduates, people starting a first or new career, and those who are simply trying to survive and succeed. The funds will allow us to plan and execute the following:
1. Grant funds for school supplies, computers, dorm supplies, and personal care;
2. Prepare and present free mentorship workshops to middle school, high school and college students, most of whom are the first generation to graduate high school and move on to college; and
3. To plan and help execute community projects surrounding mentorship and education; and
4. To help pay for a therapist / counselor who can present to middle school children in rural and urban areas on how to deal with depression.
We appreciate any assistance you can provide!
