My family is so thankful for Doodle Rock Rescue. We have 4 DRR pups in our home. All came to DRR with critical medical needs in the 2019, 2021, and 2022. From valley dogs to senior pups to critical medical cases, Doodle Rock always rises to meet the needs of these special souls. Here is a little more about our sweet DRR pups.
FREDDIE was part of 120+ breeder surrender that Doodle Rock organized at the end of last year. He was part of the last transport out of East Texas before this breeder closed his doors for good. Upon arrival it became very clear that living in a small kennel with only a concrete floor for 4 years had taken a toll on his little body. The vets at CHEW Animal Clinic determined that he had deterioration of his hips requiring the surgical removal of part of his femur in order for him to improve his quality of life. After surgery and months of rehabilitation, he has learned to frolic and play like the puppy he always deserved to be.
BENEDICT (aka Bennie) and his siblings (The Bridgertons) were surrendered from the valley at just 5 weeks old. Doodle Rock is the best offering an alternative to a high skill shelter prevalent in the valley. They arrived in January 2021 full of worms and parasites. The foster and medical team quickly got them on the mend but sadly they were not aware they had been exposed to distemper before leaving the valley. They all were positive for distemper in early February 2021. DRR used every resource at their disposal to save them but sadly all passed except Bennie. Bennie's journey has been harrowing as he developed a tic, chest muscle weakness, and vocalization but with the wonderful veterinary partners, CHEW Animal Clinic and Summerfields Animal Hospital, he has been able to have a quality of life we did not think possible. Bennie's life was forever changed, and we are grateful to be able to love him each and every day!
JAMIE came to us after she was surrendered by her owner who was unable to treat a rattlesnake bite Jamie endured at 8 months old. Doodle Rock vets were unable to save her eye but she did have a successful eye removal and recovered from her infection. She was so scared when she joined our family. I am not sure what her living environment was before she came to us but she did not know how to be a dog. Doodle Rock worked with her to help her learn to trust humans and be a family pet.
MELLIE was surrendered by a breeder with an ectopic ureter where she was having difficulty learning house training and was constantly leaking urine. Knowing they would be unable to sell her they turned her over to DRR. Again, with wonderful partner vets, Doodle Rock was able to get her treatment for chronic urinary tract infections and medication to help with muscle control. With time and patience she has grown out of much of urinary issues as long as she is kept on a schedule and certain accommodations are made.
These wonderful babies would not have the comfortable lives they lead as pets had it not been for Doodle Rock stepping up to take them in and ensure they had all the medical care needed to treat and rehabilitate them.
North Texas Giving Day is the largest fundraiser of the year for Doodle Rock Rescue. Without the generous contributions of others, their mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abused, neglected, and abandoned poodle mixes (doodles) in need would not be possible.
I am personally matching $1 for $1 up to a total of $1,000 in total donations for Doodle Rock. Please join me in supporting them at NGTD 2023!
