The Dallas Jr Wheelchair Mavericks are a non-profit organization.  Like many non-profits, we rely heavily on fundraising and the support of our community.  With over 50 athletes ranging from age 4-19, we provide a place for athletes to grow not only as players, but as people.

Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat it.  Over the years, North Texas Giving Day has been our most successful fundraiser.  I know everything is more expensive these days.  Dollars don’t stretch nearly as far as they used to.   There are a lot of great causes raising money on  NTX Giving Day that are worth your support.  I can assure you that literally every dollar donated to the Jr Mavs helps.

My friends and family have been incredibly supportive over the years and I’m forever grateful for that.  When you pledge to support the Jr Mavs, you aren’t just supporting a basketball team.

This program and this sport do change lives.  Over the years I’ve even heard from multiple people that this team saved their lives.  Or that it saved their child’s life.  I’m not even being dramatic.  That’s a direct quote from multiple athletes and parents.

The Dallas Jr Mavs organization isn’t just about winning.  It’s also about the kids and the families who continue to show up every weekend for 8 months out of the year.  The families who find a new support system because they can bond over the fact that their children share the same disability.

This is about the kids who text a week after the season ends asking when we start practice again.  It’s about the kids who were born with disabilities that for the first time feel like they belong somewhere.  It’s about kids who have been through a life altering injury that find a new passion for life.  It’s about the players who learn that nothing will be given to them and rise to the occasion.

As a matter of fact, it’s also about the players who ultimately decide that basketball isn’t for them because they’ve discovered another sport that they are more passionate about.   But they were exposed to that other sport by this community.

Our program is one of the most diverse places you will find.   Players from all different backgrounds, races, religions and ethnicities come together and become as close as family.  They grow up together and they stay connected for the rest of their lives.

If you’ve read this far, thank you.  Please know that after 30 years, The Dallas Jr Wheelchair Mavericks can continue to change lives with your help.  The faces and the names change but the mission stays the same.

Please donate, like, share, make a tiktok, whatever you can do to help.  This program means a lot of things to a lot of people and it needs help right now.
