We are a community program that teaches children from ages 5 through high school graduation discipline, motivation, and self-worth through the adaptive sport of wheelchair basketball. We are the only adaptive basketball program in the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex and have athletes come from all parts of North Texas, including cities bordering Louisiana, to join our program.
We are currently the largest adaptive basketball team in the nation. A problem we are facing is as we continue to grow we are running out of athletic wheelchairs and facilities to hold us. We are in deperate need of athletic wheelchairs to continue to provide to the future and prep teams to excel in our program.
Our teams consist of:
* A Futures Team (allowing for more 1:1 instruction)
* A Prep Team (8.5 ft. goal)
* And two Varsity Team (10 ft. goal)
The benefit of children participating in our wheelchair sports program is quite evident as they develop skills that will help them not only in basketball but in life as well as social interaction with their peers, physical fitness, and increased self-confidence.
Children with disabilities often are NOT afforded to join a social group in a public school setting, especially in sports. This program concentrates on the need of children with ambulatory issues to partake in wheelchair basketball. Our program teaches the athletes that they can and will be Independent. Our program creates a community and setting that makes these athletes thrive both physically and mentally.
We are not just a community sport program, we are truly a family. We support each other on many levels and are an essential part of our athletes development on and off the court.
