Meet Ava: A Story of Progress and Possibility
When Ava started therapy at IDA Dallas, reading felt like a mountain she could never climb. Diagnosed with dyslexia in second grade, she struggled to keep up with her classmates—letters danced on the page, and frustration became part of her daily routine. But everything started to change when she received a scholarship to begin Educational and Academic Therapy.
With consistent support, Ava began making real progress. Words started to click, her confidence grew, and she even started volunteering to read aloud in class—something she never thought she’d do.
But then summer came.
Without continued therapy, Ava’s family worried about losing the ground she had worked so hard to gain. And they were right to worry: research shows that students with dyslexia can lose up to 30% of their reading gains over the summer if they don’t receive continued intervention.
Thankfully, Ava received a summer scholarship, made possible by generous donors like you. Because of that support, Ava stayed in therapy through the summer months, keeping her skills sharp and starting the new school year stronger than ever.
Now in fourth grade, Ava is not just reading—she’s thriving.
Your gift makes stories like Ava’s possible.
This summer, help us provide scholarships to children at risk of regression. Let’s make sure no child loses their progress just because school is out.
Give the gift of a summer without setbacks.
