ABOUT MJM

Since being established in 2006, Methodist Justice Ministry (MJM) has provided free legal representation to victims of family violence, child abuse, and child neglect. Specializing in family law, our attorneys seek the safest resolutions in protective orders, custody, and divorce judgments for families impacted by poverty. By combining legal expertise with ongoing support, including counseling and emergency financial assistance, our team walks alongside clients as they transition to safe and stable lives. In the last 18 years, MJM has filed over 1,200 lawsuits advocating for over 3,000 individuals facing dangerous situations. With support like yours, we can continue our life-saving mission.

MEET TIFFANY

"In 2018, after eight years with my fiancé, we decided to end our relationship. We agreed on shared custody of our daughter Alyssa, who was born with Down Syndrome and is non-verbal. Shortly after that separation, my ex’s roommate reported suspicious behavior by my ex during his visits with Alyssa. That is when my oldest daughter came forward to share that she had been sexually abused by Alyssa’s father for three years before the separation. She had been too afraid to come forward in the past but gained the strength to advocate for Alyssa.

After a thorough Child Protective Services investigation which led to criminal charges, I was left to navigate our family law case without financial resources. I was overwhelmed with anguish, but it became imperative that I advocate for Alyssa’s safety and change the custody order in place. 

MJM got my family through the most difficult period of our lives. They eased my fears and made the legal process less daunting, going above and beyond anything expected. The staff is kind, compassionate, and understanding. Their assistance was more than legal representation but with school supplies and Christmas presents they made sure my kids felt a sense of normalcy and helped me meet their needs.
